What makes becoming a volunteer so special are the relationships you build with the members in the department. Whether you're playing pool in our community room, enjoying yourself with friends at a party or just hanging out with the guys. Along with the social aspects that come with joining, you also can benefit from the networking that happens when you become a member of such a diverse group of individuals.

Our Station

Members of the Boght Community Fire District man one station. Located at the corner of Boght Road and Route 9. Currently configured in a multi-building design which allows one building dedicated to Line Officers, Training, and housing of our Apparatus.  One building for our Commissioners, their offices and our District Administrators Office. The third building was the site of the original firehouse converted to a recreation room, for our members, when they are not providing a service to the town on the first floor and banquet facility with full kitchen available to our members and residents for rental on the second floor.

We are in the planning phase of building a new firehouse. There will be many informational meetings for the residents of the community to attend.

Membership Recruitment Drive

We are currently seeking members for our fire department, ladies auxiliary, and fire police. Any interested candidates should submit a application available at our firehouse. The best times to pick up an application are: Monday - Friday 8am - 3pm see our department administrator or any Thursday evening between 7pm - 10pm during drill.  We can also email you an application if you cannot attend during any of those times.

Requirements for the volunteer fire service

The fire service is a very dangerous, demanding and rigorous field. The initial training may seem overwhelming at first, however the 78 hour firefighter I training class required by the State of New York is broken up over the course of 2 or 3 months making it less demanding. There after we have weekly drills on Thursday evenings where we sharpen our skills with senior firefighters and officers conducting training classes.  Additional classes that are recommended for members to have is advanced firefighter, F.A.S.T. Training, and Emergency medical services training.
