The Boght Community Fire District was organized on July 8th 1940 due to a lack of fire protection in the community.The fire company was later incorporated on April 11th 1941, in a small room in the rear of the Boght Church.
The ladies auxiliary was organized in 1950 as the result of a large barn fire at the Carr farm on Route 9. Since that date, the auxiliary has provided an important service to the Fire Company with financial support and by providing refreshments during and after certain emergency calls.
In 1951, the Boght Community Rescue Squad was organized by Fire Company Members to provide emergency care to the Boght, Latham, and Maplewood Fire Districts. It was the first of its kind in the Town of Colonie.
At noon on November 30, 2013, the Boght Community Fire District moved 1/2 mile south on route 9 to our new location at 8 Preston Drive.
Today, along with providing Emergency Services to our district, we provide mutual aid to both the Town of Colonie and Sartoga County.
